Review of cruise ships - Celebrity Cruises Eclipse

I am writing this post while on my return flight to the United States, after spending the last two weeks (14 nights) aboard Celebrity Eclipse. Founded in April 2010, Celebrity Eclipse joins the award-winning family of "Solstice Class" ships, which currently includes the Celebrity Solstice, the Equinox in 2011 and is also the silhouette. So even if I try to maintain total objectivity, I must admit that I had in Eclipse with very high expectations.Fortunately, with few exceptions (as noted below), I was not disappointed.

The 'hardware'

When discussing the physical attributes of a cruise ship (which is the layout and appearance), professionals often refer to the ship "hardware". So start there.

At 122,000 tons (the largest fleet Celebrity), the Eclipse was surprisingly easy to get on and round, with a total capacity of 2,850 passengers (double occupancy), the vessel is neverfelt crowded. To be honest, my first impression of the Interior, who was a bit 'simple' was', but as the days went on board, I have come to appreciate more and more. In accordance with the position of Celebrity in the industry as "premium cruise line (from" mass market "or" distinguished luxury "), the general appearance and" feel "of Eclipse, is what I call" elegance ". The In contrast to the "cheap Glamour" or "pretentious opulence" seen by some ships of other selves, the interiorEclipse seems to be deliberately underestimated by the designers, which guarantees the guests (including me) feel completely at ease, while living in their luxury home at sea. Colors in the main lobby were soft and light, while other public areas and rooms (including Michael's Club and the butler) in the deep natural wood tones with luxurious furniture and carpets were decorated.

Corridors and stairs were big enough for the passage side-by-side reviews and werarely had to wait more than one or two minutes for an elevator. The public toilets were clean and were always well stocked with small cloth towels, disposable (or hot air dryers instead of paper).

The swimming pool and deck areas were large enough to find a comfortable lounge chair has never been a problem. However, the jogging track (or "path" for those of us who have gone over 60) through the center of the pool area seats (so that is something to be an "obstacle course") andnot completely go around the whole ship.

Perhaps the specificity of the ship "hardware" was the "Lawn Club." I must admit that a negative preconceived notion (on photos and descriptions I've seen of the base) may have clouded my expectations. But after a few minutes of watching fellow passengers only in the sun or play croquet on the lawn finely treated, I noticed that the pictures of this area in the brochures and television celebritiesAdvertising is not to capture the quiet serenity. I liked it!

The Food

Since all the restaurants offer a variety of dining options, each assessment of foods affected not only by personal taste, but also as selected items from the menu. Nowhere was this more evident than at the specialty restaurant, Murano aboard the Eclipse. My wife ordered the filet mignon, while my cousin, Mike had the veal chop. Both starters were undoubtedly the best of its kind, weever tasted .... everywhere! ordered the other hand, fish (Mediterranean sea bass), the friend of my cousin, Janet and I are at best fair.

More significant was the dinner we had in the specialty restaurant, the Tuscan Grille. While the filet mignon was good (in our opinion) as excellent in Murano (although the Tuscan grill advertises itself as "a steakhouse with an Italian touch), all of our starters were on their way.

In the restaurant, you quisine,We had a lot of fun sampling a variety of unique appetizers and side dishes, each described on a menu I-pod.

The large dining room, the moonlight sonata, offered a variety of dishes ranging from good to excellent every night with very few disappointments. We especially liked the food choice Select, a nice departure from the regulated two seats on most conventional cruise ships. And we were always able to get a table for four near the window, as werequired.

The service

A perception of passenger cruise service on board is so often dependent on their cabin attendants and was served the waiters / waitresses their meals. If, at best, an assessment of service only as a generalization based on limited personal experience, and is to be taken on board.

Having carried out this part of my review to cover ("my" fuck, if the reader has a different experience), I would say that my wife and I found theService superb. were our slave cabin (Violetta Rodriguez and David Campbell) were the best team we're trying in every way (and we have taken many cruises). The dining room staff was competent and professional in all restaurants. There were also some little "extra touch" as you well back on board with welcome drink and a soft-back "spray" spray fresh after a long day of excursions. However, it was one of the things I appreciated mostjudicious use of public notices. After updating the master of the location and time each morning, the public information system has been virtually silent the rest of the day. There was no blaring advertisements for the next round of bingo jackpots and special "deals" on jewelry. If you are interested in such things, had the time and place for all activities and events on board are clearly in the daily calendar that has been left in the cabin shown in the previous night. Having learned to readwhen, in the first class was, I did not want to miss the ads a bit 'annoying.

The Entertainment

If there is one area in which disappointed my experience aboard the Celebrity Eclipse me (and my fellow travelers), it was fun. In particular, were the performances of Broadway-style production (I've seen countless times on other cruise ships), fair at best, completely uninspired at worst. This does not mean that artists are not talented individual(Although I've seen better). It 's just to say that I have this show Song and Dance "which is to be" Corny ", repetitive and, in some ways a bit' amateurish. The exception to this was the last show (titled "Eclipse"), the effects also on some great performances and acrobatic great amount of detail. The variety of entertainment (jugglers, magicians, comedians, etc.) were generally good.

The exhibit high glass-blowing was supported, in my opinion, moving slow and boring. Althoughspeakers from Corning Glass Museum were obviously very skilled and dedicated to their craft their work, I could not spend too much for almost an hour watching a glass bowl that excited. In fact, at some point during the show, turned to me and my wife said, 'What am I missing? ". Ironically, the exhibition was highly recommended to us by one of our staff, who saw him on the Solstice. So do not take my word. See for yourself.

TheStaterooms

Like any modern cruiser, Celebrity Eclipse offers a wide range of accommodation ranging from chalets best interior (no windows) to the luxury suite with huge personal butler. Of course, a guest staying in a suite of a large number of cabin experience as a stay in a cabin would be much smaller, are once again my car checked by the reader feel that my particular experience is based preface (which may orcan not apply to other types of accommodation in Eclipse true).

, My wife and I chose (as we do in many cases) a standard cabin with balcony in the average price, which was more than enough for us. The decor was soft and pleasant. The bedding was very comfortable and none of us had no problem falling asleep. The bathroom was a nice size, but the shower does not have an extension of the hand (which had to move the body around a little 'to you all washed.)It 'been a little' space less than what we wanted for a cruise of 14 nights, but overall we were very satisfied with our hospitality standard balcony cabin.

Completion

After well over 30 cruises in the last 15 years we have had in store, my wife and I are always looking for something special when a new cruise ship is launched. And this is exactly what we did with Celebrity Eclipse. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being theunattainable standard of being absolutely perfect in every way), give them a score of 8.5 to 9 We can not wait to book our cruise on the Celebrity brand new silhouette (twin Eclipse) when the return journey begins travel to the Caribbean from Cape Liberty, New Jersey in 2011.
